Web Monitoring Unveiled

Amagansett, N.Y. — An Internet gateway developed by Connected Hearth lets consumers remotely monitor and control HAI home-automation systems from any browser-equipped PC. With the gateway, a dedicated computer isn't needed in the home to provide remote monitoring and control. With the gateway connected to HAI's Omni series of controllers, consumers can log on to a password-protected Web site operated by Connected Hearth (www.connectedhearth.com) to monitor and control home systems, such as lighting, HVAC and security. The site also displays the views of security cameras and monitors for fire, water leaks and break-ins. It places a call or sends e-mail to alert subscribers of a problem.

Kaleidescape, Crestron Team

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Custom installers who want to install Kaleidescape's multizone movie server have another option. Systems-integration supplier Crestron has developed a software module that simplifies the process of integrating Kaleidescape's servers with Crestron's home-control systems. Integration delivers control over the Kaleidescape system through Crestron touch screens, which control such home systems as lights, security, distributed-audio systems and distributed-video systems. Kaleidescape's movie server must still be used with dedicated clients in each room.
