Logitech Debuts Gaming Accessories

By TWICE Staff -- TWICE, 7/15/2008

Fremont, Calif. — Logitech today unveiled four new gaming system accessories, including two wireless controllers.

Logitech's cordless keyboard for the Wii, licensed by Nintendo, is a 2.4GHz wireless full-size QWERTY keyboard designed to simplify text input in the Wii Internet Channel and during online, chat-oriented games. It is plug-and-play and has a range of 30 feet. It includes dedicated buttons for zoom in/out, forward/back, quit and OK. Weighing about a pound and a half with two AA batteries, the keyboard will have a suggested retail of $49.99 when it ships in August.

Also new is Logitech's Driving Force 2.4GHz wireless wheel, a force feedback controller for Sony's Playstation3. It boasts lag-free control from up to 30 feet, according to the company, and its force-feedback technology recreates bumps, crashes and traction loss in popular driving games. An expandable lap-rest facilitates play away from a hard, flat surface.

The wheel also works with PlayStation2 consoles. It ships in August at a suggested $99.99.

Logitech is also rolling out its next generation of handheld gaming system cases. The PlayGear Pocket Lite for the Nintendo DS Lite, and the PlayGear Pocket Slim for Sony PSP 2000 series, are polycarbonate shells with snap enclosures. Play-in-case design allows access to all controls and connections without removing the unit from the cases.

They include templates to customize skins with personal images.

The Pocket Lite can accommodate up to four DS Lite games. It weighs 5.75 ounces and will retail for $19.99. The Pocket Slim is compatible with the Sony 2,200 mAh extended life battery, weighs 5.08 ounces and will retail for $14.99. Both ship in August.

All four new products come with a one-year limited warranty.
