Plantronics Underscores Style/Design Initiative

Staff -- TWICE, 9/6/2004

A new strategic initiative from headset maker Plantronics will focus on further increasing the design and style appeal of the company's new headsets.

Emphasis on design and style is part of an overall Plantronics strategy to gain a deeper understanding of how consumers use headsets and how these feel when users are wearing them. The ultimate goal, said Plantronics, is to create headsets that are attractive to wear, intuitive to use and fit comfortably and naturally into a broad range of work styles and lifestyles.

Key components in the strategy include an increased emphasis on innovation in technology and customer centric research. Plantronics said because people wear its products and depend on them for communication, it is essential the company understand the connection between the product and the person. The better the understanding of the connection, the better its products will be, said the company.

“As headsets become more of a mainstream consumer offering, users are demanding products that are fashionable with innovative designs,” said Ken Kannappan, president/CEO. “The company that successfully captures this opportunity will be a technology leader and a design innovator.

“Plantronics is responding to this demand by significantly expanding its design efforts to create the next generation of headsets that incorporate new styles, colors and materials, and offers improved controls to create greater freedom in communications,” said Kannapan.
