Alpine Showing First MOST-Ready Product

Alpine displayed two “concept” pieces at International CES last month in Las Vegas, including the first MOST-ready product, able to interface with the MOST multimedia network currently gaining widespread use in European cars

MOST, the Media Oriented Systems Transport, is also expected to gain prevalence in the United States over the next few years.

Alpine's MOST-ready iPod interface allows the device to link to a MOST audio/video network and be recognized as a node on the network. The iPod would then seamlessly integrate with the car's A/V system. No shipping or pricing was announced for the product.

Alpine also displayed an in-dash DVD/monitor system with DiVX playback capability. DiVX is a software-compression codec that allows 10 DVDs to be recorded onto 1 DVD-R disc or 10 CDs on one CD-R. One DVD can also be copied to a CD-R. DiVX is rapidly gaining as a popular video compression used in many home and portable video products.
