Jensen Readies Two Mechless Heads

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 12/3/2007

Jensen will introduce two "mechless" head units (without a CD mechanism) at International CES in January, said Audiovox which owns the Jensen brand.

One mechless head unit, the HD 5000, will include built-in HD Radio at $99 and another model, the SD 5000, will be offered without HD Radio at $79. Further details will be announced at CES.

The mechless head units were originally to be unveiled at Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show.

In addition, Jensen will bring HD Radio to its multimedia line. It will deliver in the next 30 days a single-DIN in-dash DVD/monitor with HD Radio and will begin converting its entire in-dash DVD/monitor line over to HD capability throughout 2008, said Audiovox Electronics president Tom Malone.
