DEFENDER LAUNCHES VIDEO SECURITY SYSTEM

By Staff -- TWICE, 4/7/2008

Defender, a sub-brand of SVAT Electronics, is launching a video security solution that's meant to be easy to set up for everyday consumers: the Sentinel2. The do-it-yourself system incorporates advanced features, such as motion detection and night vision, and comes with an ultra-compact digital video recorder as well as four indoor/outdoor high-resolution cameras.

The system can record up to 154 days of continuous footage on its 160GB hard drive. High-resolution CCD color cameras provide clear picture imaging at 420 TV lines of resolution, allowing for facial recognition, and are equipped with 12 infrared LEDs that activate automatically when it gets dark. The DVR has a USB backup for easy transfer of video footage to a PC or laptop to view offsite. Motion-activated recording and alerts also allow footage to be recorded with movement. The system will be available early September at a less-than-$500 retail.
