Directed Offers CANBUS Security

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 11/19/2007

Directed is shipping this month its first car security systems with built in CANBUS capability to plug directly into the bus system of certain vehicles.

In the past, Directed systems required an interface in order to interface directly with a vehicle's bus system.

A direct CANBUS connection allows installation time for security systems to be cut in half and creates a more reliable connection to the vehicle, said Directed. It also permits the alarms to be compatible with factory keyless entry systems.

Each CANBUS system is vehicle specific and can be flash upgraded via a PC connection to fit a particular model or year.

The Directed systems include a 3901T for VW, Audi, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and European vehicles; a 3902T for GM, Honda and Opel vehicles; and a 3903T for Nissan, Ford and Renault vehicles.

The systems are geared to both expediters and retailers.
