Sanyo Introduces Low-Cost 6-Megapixel Camera

By Staff -- TWICE, 6/5/2006

Sanyo, a major camera OEM, introduced a 6-megapixel digital camera late last month under its own Xacti brand.

The 6-megapixel Xacti S60 features a newly developed CCD sensor, 3x optical zoom and a 2.5-inch TFT LCD monitor. It will offer the company's Touch Sensor Shutter button for quickly locking auto focus and auto exposure before taking a picture.

The camera also features a nine-point auto-focus system, 21MB of internal memory, a super macro mode for focusing on images up to 5 cm away, and a 2.5 fps burst mode up to four images.

The S60 can record VGA resolution video at 30 fps with sensitivities to ISO 1600 for improved low-light video capture. The model will also be Sanyo's first to offer voice recording for adding voice clips to still images.

The camera draws power from two AA batteries for up to 240 pictures.

The camera ships this month for a suggested $199.99.
