VTech Pushes DECT Designs

By Greg Scoblete -- TWICE, 1/7/2008

VTech will focus on DECT and design in 2008 and launch the first DECT phones for the AT&T brand.

VTech will discontinue 2.4GHz digital and only offer a single 2.4GHz analog model this year, said Matt Ramage, senior product management VP, VTech. "As retailers shrink their cordless planograms, it makes more sense to assort products with a slightly higher ASP, so it's better to have 5.8GHZ analog as the opening price point product," he said.

At International CES, the company will launch several DECT models including the LS6115, for $49.95, which features caller ID, handset speakerphone and a 50 name/number phone book. It is due in April. The LS6115-2 is a two handset SKU for a suggested $69.95.

The LS6125, for a suggested $59.95 shares many of the features of the LS6115 but adds an ITAD with remote message retrieval and selectable ring tones. A two-handset bundle, the LS6125-2, will retail for a suggested $79.95. The three-handset LS6125-3 will retail for $99.95 and the four-handset LS6125-4 will retail for $119.

The VTech LS6117, for a suggested $44.95, includes interchangeable graphic inserts for customizing the system. Custom artwork for the phone can be created online. The phone ships in April.

VTech's Advanced American Telephones division will ship several AT&T-branded phones in the spring, including the brand's first DECT cordless models.

The SL81108 ($49.95) will feature a proprietary antenna technology which offers a longer range, the company said. It is expandable up to 12 handsets and features caller ID, phone number directory, on-hook dialing, and handset-to-handset call transfer.

The system will be available in a two handset bundle (SL82108) for $59.95, a dual handset bundle with ITAD (SL82218) for $69.95, a three-handset ITAD system (SL82318) for $89.95 and the SL82418 four-handset bundle with ITAD for $109.

The AT&T 1070 is a four line speakerphone system with caller ID. It is expandable up to 16 stations. It offers three party conferencing and the ability to page, intercom or transfer between stations. Additional features include 200 name/number directory, speed dialing for up to 32 numbers, chain dialing, and a four-line lighted display. It will retail for $129. Later in the year the firm will ship the AT&T 1080 which builds off the 1070 by adding a digital answering system.

The TL74108 ($69.95) is a 5.8GHz cordless system with a corded base station, caller ID, ITAD, intercom and call conferencing, selectable ring tones and expandability up to four handsets.

The AT&T TL74208 ($89.95) offers similar features as the TL74108, and includes two handsets.
