Urban Access Bag Line Depicts Multi-City 'Sights'

By Staff -- TWICE, 4/24/2006

A new business is being launched by UrbanAccess USA, with the latest in European portable storage bag fashion hitting the United States packed for sale in pizza boxes.

The Netherlands-based UrbanAccess, designers of messenger bags and accessories, is making its American debut with the company's Pizza Courier collection. The bags come in dozens of international city-themed designs and are packed in “genuine,” white corrugated pizza boxes, wax paper and all.

UrbanAccess USA, which is importing the products, reported the bag line includes slim, multi-purpose satchels with laser-cut, embroidered and mixed-media graphics on the front flaps.

Designs are said to be bold, colorful and sometimes provocative — which is a tribute to urban destinations around the world.

Bag cities include New York, Hong Kong, Tokyo and London. There are over 20 more in total and others are being added regularly.

At a suggested $49.95 retail, bags offer a main compartment for books, files and papers, and a separate zippered pocket in the lining for pens, portable devices and accessories.

Michael Hess, president of UrbanAccess USA, also is CEO of his mainstay portable storage bag company RoadWired, also based here. UrbanAccess is a separate business under the RoadWired umbrella.

RoadWired is shipping in April Skooba Skin, which converts from a padded laptop sleeve to a handled carry bag, or vice-versa, with the flip of a flap. Skooba Skin is designed to protect a computer while carried inside another bag or suitcase.

Skooba Skin is available in three sizes to accommodate virtually laptop, as well as seven fabric/color combinations, including black ballistic with blue lining, olive ballistic with red lining, metallic silver with orange lining, blue ultra-suede with blue lining, brown corduroy with teal lining, red/black rally stripe rip-stop with gray lining and pink vinyl with black lining.

Suggested retails range between $29.95 and $39.95.
