Logitech Adds Laptop Pad, Stand

By John Laposky -- TWICE, 4/6/2009

Logitech has introduced the cooling pad N100 and the Logitech notebook riser, two offerings designed to increase the comfort level of laptop use.

According to Logitech research, more than 60 percent of laptop users surveyed reported using their PCs on the couch. However, more than 50 percent of them were concerned about laptop heat, and 43 percent believed that excessive laptop heat can slow, or damage, their computer.

The pad features a slotted surface that allows a USB-powered fan to distribute air evenly. To create a steady, unobstructed airflow, the N100 uses rear-air intake, unlike other cooling pads, which generate airflow from angles that are easily blocked by the laptop itself or loose articles of clothing. An enclosed construction protects the internal fan from dust and damage.

Designed for efficiency, the cooling pad N100 includes a low-power-consumption USB cable for minimal impact on a notebook's battery while still delivering enough power to improve airflow around the laptop, the company said.

Among users who prefer a more structured computing environment, more than 64 percent told Logitech that use their laptop on a desk, but 41 percent reported concerns about how this affects their posture.

Logitech's notebook riser N110 features an ergonomically designed riser that elevates a notebook display to an optimal viewing position.

It features an adjustable tilt — with 20-, 30- and 40-degree angles — and a rubber-soled swivel base for optimal adjustment. It flips open and folds flat for easy setup, transport and storage.

Both products have light gray surfaces, Tuscan green accents and rounded edges.

The Logitech cooling pad N100 is available now for a suggested retail of $29.99 . The notebook riser N100 is expected to be available in May, also priced at $29.99.
