Panasonic Intros Photo Printer, SD Storage Unit

By Greg Scoblete -- TWICE, 1/9/2003

Panasonic will debut two SD-enabled digital imaging peripherals — a dye-sublimation photo printer and mobile storage unit — at CES, here.

The SV-AP10 photo printer features slots for SD/MMC media cards as well as a slot for a PCMCIA card adapter, making the printer compatible with other flash media cards. Users can print their digital photos without using a PC though the printer also has a USB port for connecting to a computer.

The SV-AP10 can also connect to a television for photo viewing with supplied remote control. A search function lets users search stored photos by date. The unit can stand vertically or horizontally to save space.

The SV-AP10 will ship this month with a suggested retail price of $249.95.

Panasonic will also debut a portable SD media storage unit. The new SV-PT1 has 5GB of removable memory for users of SD-enabled devices to move memory off an SD card when its capacity has been reached. It comes with a USB cable to move files between the device and a PC or laptop. It also allows media conversion via a PC Card adapter for moving files between the removable hard disk and most other memory card formats.

The SV-PT1 also features an analog video out for connecting to a monitor or projector for slide-show viewing of JPEG images or PowerPoint presentations (converted to JPEG format) without a PC.

The SV-PT1 SD media storage device is scheduled to ship in February, suggested retail was not available at press time.
