Lexar Offers PC Game On USB Drive

Fremont, Calif. — The USB flash drive’s journey from data-storage vehicle to software platform took another step today as Lexar Media announced a partnership with video game publisher Ubisoft to offer a PC game loaded onto select Lexar JumpDrives.

Starting April 4 through June 15, select 1GB and 2GB Lexar JumpDrives will be preloaded with a single game-level of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Chaos Theory PC game. The drives will also be loaded with specially created PC game content such as wallpapers, screensavers, a strategy guide and a promotion for a free Splinter Cell t-shirt with the purchase of another Lexar product.

Theresa Boldrini, retail marketing director, Lexar, positioned the partnership as part of the company’s effort “to build [a] retail presence in the software specialty and gaming channels.”

Lexar will complement the game launch with in-store promos and new JumpDrive packaging.
