ELAN Introduces Latest Whole-Home Remote

DENVER — ELAN Home Systems is displaying at CEDIA Expo the newest addition to the company's whole-home touchpanel line, the XP8.4 wireless controller.
The XP8.4's user interface features customizable screen layouts. Screen displays can be selected to also match ELAN's VIA! touchpanels and Olé series of film interactive touchpads.
It features 802.11g wireless control technology and includes a tabletop docking/recharging cradle.
"Our design team took all the strengths of our groundbreaking wireless handheld controller, the N800, and worked with a larger form factor to provide even more choice in convenience and functionality for our dealers and their clients," said Bob Farinelli, ELAN's president and CTO. "Additionally, the XP architecture provides one of the most robust platforms available to deliver this kind of technology and all of the power and performance our dealer's expect."
The controller was designed for out-of-the box integration with ELAN A/V controllers and source products.
It has Web-browsing capability, and flash applications can be supported. The unit offers bi-directional control for all installed compatible A/V components, as well as subsystems such as lighting, temperature, security, pool and spas and motorized screen and drape products.
ELAN's XP8.4 will be available to dealers in the first quarter of 2009 at a suggested retail of $3,350, including the cradle and lithium-ion battery.
