CES Adds Cingular's Carter To Keynote List

Stephen Carter, president & CEO of Cingular Wireless will be a keynoter as part of highlighting wireless technology at the 2003 International CES, to be held in Las Vegas Jan. 9 through 12.

CEA, producer of the International CES, took time during its Industry Forum & Fall Conference, here, to preview some of the events planned for the show. The event is expected draw more than 100,000 attendees from more than 125 countries to view the wares of 2,000 exhibitors, including mobile and gaming technology, and will occupy more than 1.2 million square feet of space in the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC).

Cingular's Carter will speak on Friday, Jan. 10, at 9 a.m. at the Las Vegas Hilton Theater. He will join other previously announced keynoters: Microsoft chairman and founder Bill Gates; CEA president/CEO Gary Shapiro; Kunitake Ando, president and COO of Sony Worldwide; Michael Dell, chairman/ CEO of Dell Computer; Intel CEO Craig Barrett; and Tom Engibous, chairman, president and CEO of Texas Instruments.

Bluetooth, 3G, wireless gaming, data services, PDAs and the latest wireless connectivity technology will be discussed and on display at the show. Attendees will be able to attend a variety of seminars to learn more about the wireless business.

Mobile technology will also be a focus of CES in 2003. More than 270 mobile electronics companies will display products in the North Hall of the LVCC. GPS, Intelligent Transportation System Data Bus (IDB), vehicle navigation, car audio and security, radar detectors and satellite radio will be highlighted.

Electronic gaming will be highlighted at CES starting with 200,000 industry professionals being sent an online game, testing their electronic racing skills to see how fast they can drive to Las Vegas. Individual top scores for the Sirius Satellite Radio Las Vegas Challenge will be posted daily on www.CESweb.org/race. The Xtreme Entertainment Pavilion, located in the upper level of the Las Vegas Convention Center South Hall, will showcase the latest in gaming and entertainment technology.
