APC Boosts Mobile Cases

By Staff -- TWICE, 2/24/2003

Combining a single power adapter to help ensure mobile devices such as notebook computers and cellular phones are constantly charged and ready to use, American Power Conversion (APC) is introducing a family of what it calls innovative stylish notebook power carrying cases.

Called the APC TravelPower, the case is said to revolutionize the way these types of portable storage are used — by keeping mobile devices charged and available for use, while decreasing the amount of power a consumer needs to carry. The product provides the convenience of recharging mobile accessories in a notebook carrying case without having to remove anything from the bag.

The case offers three input power plugs for AC, auto and airplane — that allow a user to connect to the available power source whether in a building or traveling in a car or plane. A single power adapter recharges up to three electronic devices, including notebook, at the same time. The USB charger port allows a user to easily charge two additional mobile devices, such as cellphone and PDA.

The case is designed with internal pockets for ease of access to all mobile accessories and offers a spill-proof detachable pouch that provides discreet storage for personal belongings.

The TravelPouch is available in two sizes and styles, a sleek 1,000-cubic-inch synthetic leather briefcase and a larger 1,300-cubic-inch case made of tough ballistic nylon. Both offer built-in electronics, with USB charging cables sold separately.

Cases will be available in March at a suggested $99.99 retail for the smaller size and $129.99 retail for the larger unit.

New International Notebook Plug Adapter kits from APC contain four different plug adapters in a convenient carrying case that allow users to access local power in more than 150 countries worldwide. These are available at a suggested $19.99 retail.
