Denon Electronics and Warner Home Video are teaming up on a holiday Blu-ray Disc promotion offering a BD copies of the box-office smash "The Dark Knight" and "Batman Begins" with the purchase of eligible Denon Blu-ray players.

The promotion will run through Jan. 10, 2009, includes Denon's DVD-1800BD ($749 suggested retail) and DVD-3800BDCI ($1,999) Blu-ray Disc players, as well as the DVD-2500BTCI ($1,199) Blu-ray transport.

Consumers who purchase one of the Blu-ray players will be eligible to receive the Blu-ray discs by completing a claim form and mailing it in along with proof of purchase.

"The Dark Knight" Blu-ray release was mastered "to fully exploit the breakthrough technological capabilities of the high-resolution format," Denon said. The film was originally shot in IMAX format.

Key sequences in the Blu-ray version of the movie offer performance enhancements. The "Batman Begins" Blu-ray release offers additional features and extras, including picture-in-picture commentary.

" 'The Dark Knight' truly epitomizes what this high-resolution format has to offer for home entertainment, both in terms of high-quality content, image and sound," stated Joe Stinziano, Denon Electronics sales and marketing senior VP. "Most importantly, our Blu-ray promotion with Warner Home Video is designed to benefit both our valued retail partners as well as consumers by generating excitement for Blu-ray products."

To highlight this promotion at retail, Denon said it is providing participation retailers with point-of-purchase materials, and will use a variety of online and offline advertising vehicles.
