Jabra Introduces Convertible Bluetooth Headset

By Lisa Johnston -- TWICE, 1/29/2007

Jabra announced the launch of its BT8010 convertible Bluetooth stereo headset at International CES, held here earlier this month.

The BT8010 is designed for consumers who require a high-performance Bluetooth headset but also desire the ability to adapt their headset into a fully functional Bluetooth stereo headset, said the company in a release.

Features include caller ID and a personalized phonebook that can store up to 30 contacts, and with the addition of an attachable stereo unit, the BT8010 reportedly becomes a high-performance stereo headset enabling users to switch seamlessly between their phone and listening to music.

It offers up to 10 hours of talktime, up to six hours of streaming music and up to 300 hours standby time. The headset features Bluetooth 2.0, and it receives and plays Bluetooth stereo streaming audio directly from mobile phones or music players that support the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile for stereo sound and the Audio/Video Remote Control Profile for remote control from the headset.

The BT8010 is designed for simple operation; other features include auto-pairing for an easy connection to mobile phones, OLED scrollable display and a jog wheel for navigation of the headset's menus. It has a Multipoint connection, allowing simultaneous connection to two devices such as a PC and a phone, or music player and phone. The headset also comes with Digital Signal Processing technology that provides ultra-clear audio quality, according to the company.

It was scheduled to be available in the first quarter with a $149 suggested retail.
