Q3 Vacuum Sales Slide

CLEVELAND — Factory shipments of full-size household vacuum cleaners fell 4.7 percent during the third quarter of 2002 to 4.7 million units, as reported by the Vacuum Cleaner Manufacturers Association. Wholesale sales for the first nine months were up 1.2 percent over the prior year period, to 14.6 million units.

Lynx Names New Distributor

COMMERCE, CALIF. — Lynx Professional Grills has named Roseland, N.J.-based Eastern Marketing Corp. as its exclusive distributor for the Northeast. Eastern principal Marty Friedman said "We are pleased to align ourselves with Lynx," which he described as the No. 1 professional grill line in the region.

Danby Debuts New Fridge

FINDLAY, OHIO — Danby Products has added another model to its upscale Silhouette series of refrigerators and wine coolers. The new addition is a 9.1 cubic foot refrigerator that features a sleek black cabinet with a platinum finish on the door, adjustable glass shelves and Danby's patented CanStor door liner. The company will also be introducing a new apartment-sized platform this month that measures 60x24 inches.

Asko Picked For Solar Match

RICHARDSON, TEXAS — Eight of 14 college teams competing in the 2002 Solar Decathlon, a solar homebuilding contest, employed Asko appliances for their energy efficiency. The Asko-equipped structures included the first place house, designed and constructed by students at the University of Colorado at Boulder, which featured an Asko washer, dryer and dishwasher. "Their energy-saving features helped us to win," said team member Celeste Leidich.
