Tigra Teams Nanos With Bikes

HONG KONG — Tigra Sport introduced the iBikeConsole for iPod Nano users who want to operate their devices while riding their bike.
The iBikeConsole enables iPod-listening cyclists to wirelessly change songs or adjust the volume via a remote-controlled unit. It also allows the cyclists' speed and distance traveled to be displayed on the Nano screen, according to the company.
Designed to mount securely to the bicycle's stem or handlebars, the iBikeConsole “acts like a docking station for an iPod Nano,” said the company.
The main functions of the Nano and cycle computer are controlled wirelessly through a pair of patented keypads that can be mounted on the bike's grips and reportedly operated with the thumbs. These silicone-covered keypads have large control buttons that can be activated even with gloves on, said Tigra Sports.
The main iBike unit draws power from the Nano so no extra battery is required, it said. Optional speakers are provided that reportedly provide high-quality music without requiring the user to wear ear buds.
Featuring Apple's Made for iPod certification, the iBikeConsole is currently available for $86.
