New Low-End PDAs From Casio

Staff -- TWICE, 7/9/2001

Casio launched two basic handhelds under its Pocket Viewer series, which includes the company's first 6MB low-end model, at PC Expo.

Joining the new Pocket PC-based BE-300 Pocket Manager (see June 25 issue of TWICE) are the new low cost pen-based Pocket Viewers that use a proprietary Casio operating system.

The new models, PV-S400Plus and PV-S600Plus, allow users to copy, view and edit Microsoft Excel documents and synchronize to Microsoft Outlook.

Casio for the first time is also shipping a free SDK developer kit that allows developers to create games and other productivity programs for the Pocket Viewer line.

Shipping in August, the PV-S400Plus with 4MB of memory will carry a suggested retail price of $99.95. The PV-S600Plus with 6MB will carry a suggested retail price of $129.95.
