CEA, HANA Merge; CE Show In China Slated

Staff -- TWICE, 1/21/2002

CEA, producer of International CES, announced at the show that it has merged with the Home Automation & Networking Association (HANA) and that it will launch a new trade show with the producer of CeBIT in Shanghai, China.

As a result of the HANA merger, CEA will create a new Home Automation and Networking Division for its 500 members, including manufacturers and installers focused on providing the training and support required to develop a successful implementers channel.

HANA's existing board will become the board of CEA's HANA Division with current HANA president Duane Paulson, VP of Strategic Ventures for global security manufacturer Interlogix, serving as chair of the new CEA Division and assuming a seat on CEA's Executive Board. CEA will continue HANA's existing programs and assume HANA's sponsorship of the Electronic House Expos.

Concerning the show in China, Deutsche Messe AG (the Hanover Trade Fair Authority, or DMAG), owner and organizer of CeBIT Hanover, and CEA have announced a partnership to co-organize and launch CeBIT CES Consumer Electronics Show. The event will take place from May 29 – June 1, 2002, at the Shanghai New International Expo Center in Shanghai, China. CeBIT CES is projected to host 20,000 attendees and 250 exhibitors.

CeBIT CES will take place at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) in Pudong, a newly constructed state-of-the-art exhibition facility that is co-owned by DMAG. SNIEC is located near the Shanghai International Airport and, with 2.15 million square feet of display area, ranks as Asia's largest and most modern exhibition facility.
