Norcent Debuts 1,080p 'VION' LCD TVs

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 1/8/2007

Norcent (booth 20950 in South Hall 1) will take the wraps off 2007 LCD and plasma models, highlighted by 1,080p LCD TVs in its VION series.

The company said it hired "a renowned international design firm" to develop the cosmetics for the VION (pronounced Veé-ohn) line of LCD and plasma TVs.

The newest VION flagship SKUs include LCD TV models with 37W-inch and 42W-inch screen sizes, each offering full 1,920 by 1,080p resolution, Norcent said.

The 37W-inch model is slated to ship in first quarter, while the 42W-inch is expected this summer. Prices will be announced later.

Models LT-3790 and LT-4290 each include built-in ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuning, HDMI and HD component video inputs and SRS virtual surround sound.

Picture brightness is listed at 500 Cd/m2, and the panel viewing angle is said to be 176 degrees.

The company will also show "high value" 42W-inch and 50W-inch high-definition plasma TVs.

Due to ship this month, the PT-4246HD ($1,299 estimated street price) features 1,024-by-768p resolution, built-in ATSC/NTSC/QAM tuning HDMI and component video inputs and SRS surround sound.

Picture brightness is listed as 1,200 cd/m2, while contrast is said to be 10,000:1.

The 50W-inch PT5045HD ($1,999) is slated to ship in February, carrying a similar feature package to the 42W-inch model, plus 1,366-by-768 resolution, 1,300 Cd/m2 brightness and a 10,000:1 contrast ratio, the company said.
