NABC Makes Battery Entrée Into 2 Rechargeable Sectors

By Staff -- TWICE, 5/3/2004

North American Battery (NABC) is entering two rechargeable battery markets in the second quarter — photo lithium and portable DVD.

NABC is offering its first-ever, rechargeable CR-V3 photo cell battery, under the Polaroid brand. The battery is made to take up to 200 shots per charge and over 100,000 shots per battery. It is available with a charger at a suggested $29.99 retail. The battery alone is $14.99.

Additional rechargeable photo lithium formats will become available under the Polaroid brand in the third quarter of 2004.

Paralleling the fast sales growth of portable DVD players, NABC is offering what it calls the first ultra-compact rechargeable battery for DVD players, which extends viewing time up to six hours on a single charge.

The battery, available under the company's UltraLast brand, includes four universal-size plugs to fit over 20 portable DVD models. It also comes with an "easy-plug-in" charger. Suggested retail is $79.99.
