Research Triangle Park, N.C. — Lenovo has introduced its ThinkPad X301 notebook. Like its predecessor, the ThinkPad X300, the X301 has a 13.3-inch LED back-lit display and is said to offer a light and thin form factor at less than 3 pounds and 1 inch in thickness.
“Lenovo continues to push the technology envelope by giving road warriors the latest enhancements in solid-state-drive storage and digital display technologies with the new ThinkPad X302 notebook PC,” said Sam Dusi, worldwide notebook product marketing VP, Lenovo. “This announcement extends our commitment to blending ultra-portability and functionality, and equipping today’s business users with the most advanced, highest-performing computing tools.”
The X301 offers storage capacity choices of 64GB, to be available at launch, or 128GB solid-state-drive storage, which will be available in September.
It is said to include the latest DDR3 memory and latest Intel Core 2 Duo processor.
The device supports both DisplayPort and VGA. For wireless connectivity, models are being offered with high-speed mobile broadband and Wi-Fi, as well as with Bluetooth and ultrawideband technology to connect wirelessly with other devices. Models with high-speed mobile broadband will be equipped with GPS.
The company said it has improved uplink performance by up to 250 percent for models with AT&T mobile broadband over previous ThinkPad models with the same service. Models supporting WiMAX are expected to be available later this year.
The notebook also includes Lenovo’s ThinkVantage Technologies, its Access Connections tool and its improved Power Manager.
According to the company, the device has been rated Gold by the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool.
The X301 will be available Aug. 26 with pricing starting at approximately $2,599.
