Qsonix Ladens Music Server With Upgrades

By Joseph Palenchar -- TWICE, 9/24/2007

Qsonix launched the next version of its music-management system, adding additional zones and more storage capacity.

The Q110 offers four-zone output, up from its predecessor's two zones, and boosts capacities to 250GB, 500GB and 1TB at suggested retails of $5,995, $6,795 and $7,795, respectively, with included 15-inch touchscreen controller.

In other changes, the Westlake Village, Calif., company is offering versions that would use a TV screen and wireless mouse or other pointing device as the user interface. They're priced at $4,195, $4,995 and $5,995, respectively.

Other enhancements include software that enables integration with Crestron, AMX, Russound and Xantech home control systems and other home-control brands without installer programming. The new backup/restore feature automatically backs up songs, user settings and playlists to an external USB 2.0-connected hard drive. Users can also now import music collections from networked PC, servers or external hard drives, and with that new capability, the Q110 will also recognize the songs and automatically download cleaned-up metadata and album art via the Internet.

Also new: a screensaver function lets users import images from any networked PC or external HDD. The new version also adds iPod integration, CD burning, front-panel IR receiver and rear-panel hardwired IR inputs.

Qsonix supports lossy compression formats as well as protected and unprotected WMA lossless.
