HP Offers First Stand-Alone Imaging Software Product

By Staff -- TWICE, 12/5/2005

Hewlett-Packard will offer its first stand-alone consumer digital imaging software program, making its Image Zone title available outside of its traditional camera bundle.

The new HP Image Zone 5.0 will retail for a suggested $49. The omnibus imaging program shares several features with the new Photosmart Essential 1.9 (formerly Image Zone Express), which HP will make available as a free download on its Web site.

New features of both titles include streamlined printing to HP photo printers; 25 free prints for new customers of HP's online digital photography service, Snapfish.com; and drag-and-drop templates for album page creation with borderless 4-inch by 6-inch and 5- by 7-inch templates. The software also features “idea windows” that prompt the user with photo tips and tricks.

HP Image Zone 5.0 builds off this feature set with the addition of HP's Adaptive Lighting technology and several special effects.

Image Zone 5 will also be bundled on select HP cameras.
