Lenbrook Founder David S. Simmonds, 72

David S. Simmonds, 72, a 50-year veteran of the consumer electronics and telecommunications industries, died at Lakeridge Health Centre, here, earlier this month.

Simmonds founded Lenbrook, which owns such brands as NAD Electronics, PSB Speakers and the Aegis system integration products, also distributes a number of audio and video brands through its subsidiary companies in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Singapore.

He began his career with his father's company, A.C. Simmonds&Sons, in September 1946, after graduating from the Radio College of Canada.

Simmonds is survived by his wife Barbara; sons Bob, Gordon and Don; daughters Beverly, Jennifer and Janet; and 23 grandchildren. Gordon Simmonds is president and CEO of the Lenbrook Group.
