Memorex Introduces DVD-R, DVD-RAM Media Lineup

LAS VEGAS -Memorex is planning to spread the word about its formal entry into the DVD arena at International CES this week.
The company is offering both DVD-R and DVD-RAM blank media and will support both major formats with multiple product offerings in the coming months.
The DVD-R versions of the product hold 3.95GB and 4.7GB of data, are packaged in single configurations, and carry suggested retail prices of $24.99 and $39.99, respectively.
The DVD-RAM products hold 2.6GB, 4.7GB or 5.2GB of data, are packaged in single configurations, and carry suggested retail prices of $24.99, $39.99 and $29.99, respectively.
Memorex is also introducing 16x CD-R media that is available in a full-size jewel case, various slim jewel-case packs and large-quantity spindle configurations.
The company's CD-R media features 700MB of storage capacity (80-minute record time) and 100 years of archive life.
"This year, we have seen our customers buying hundreds of recordable CD-Rs for their computer writers," said president Mike Golacinski. "The consumers' appetite for a higher-capacity recordable media format is growing."
The 16x CD-Rs are "backward compatible" with 4x-, 8x- and 12x-speed computer writers. The Memorex Platinum 16x media is available in a full-size jewel case, and the remainder of new configurations will be available this month.
