Volo Cables Hit Market In Eco-Friendly Package

by John Laposky -- TWICE, 4/17/2009

Bellevue, Wash. — Tru has extended its Volo-brand line of accessories with a new line of affordable HDMI cables.

For green-minded shoppers, the company has partnered with AGI Media to use its Natralock eco-friendly product packaging.

The line consists of 1.3b-certified HDMI cables for home theater and gaming.

“As HDMI adoption increases and the install base of HDTV’s, gaming systems, components and Blu-ray players penetrate the market, the need for multiple HDMI cables will continue to increase,” said Tru president Mitch Norton. “Volo fills a void in the retail market by offering greater value cables at a lower cost.”

The line consists of:

• a three-in-one starter kit with a 7-foot cable with a 90 degree wall-mount adapter and a 1-ounce bottle of Purosol organic screen cleaner ($39.99 suggested retail);

• a two-pack with a 4- and 7-foot cable with 90 degree wall-mount adapter for $49.99;

• the Volo ProV100, 200 and 300 in lengths of 4 , 7 and 12 feet ranging from $19.99 to 44.99; and

• the ProVgamer 100 and 200 cables in 10-foot lengths for $29.99 and 39.99, respectively.

The ProVgamer cables are designed specifically for gaming consoles to deliver lossless uncompressed digital audio and video. Tru claimed the cables maximize system performance.

According to Norton, the Natralock packaging offers enhanced security and durability for retail; 50 percent to 60 percent less plastic on average than clamshell packaging, which yields reduced cost and added value to the supply chain; improved on-pack graphics; and an easy-to-open design that gives consumers a clear view of the product

“The majority of Volo products ship raw to our fulfillment center. This decreases container cubes up to 75 percent, which in turn, decreases emissions, said Maribeth Poalson, sales VP at AGI Media. “The majority of packages are then assembled in the U.S. — keeping valuable jobs here — while supplying retailers and consumers with a superior product they can feel good about purchasing. It’s a triple win. We’re proud of our work with Tru.”

Volo HDMI products are available for direct-to-consumer purchase on Amazon.com.
