Flash Video Cams Embrace HD

LAS VEGAS — The growing market for flash-based video cameras will see an influx of models capable of recording 1080p video.
Aiptek's Action HD GVS records 1080p video or 720p video at 60 fps to SDHC memory cards. It features a 5x optical zoom lens, 5-megapixel still capture with a 10 fps burst mode, and a rotating 3-inch LCD.
It uses gyroscopic visual stabilization (GVS) for stabilizing video footage. It will retail for $249.
DXG will introduce the DXG-581V featuring 1,920 by 1,080/30 fps video recording (H.264) to SDHC cards. It features a 2.4-inch LCD, voice recording function and 8-megapixel still capture. It will retail for $149.
The 580V, also for $149, features 1,440 by 1,080/30 fps video recording to SDHC cards up to 8GB.
ISonic's HD888 features 1920 by 1080p recording at 30fps in the H.264 format to 128MB of internal memory or an SDHC card. It features a 5-megapixel sensor, a 2.5-inch LCD, 4x digital zoom, HDMI output and a built-in flash for $229.
The HD900 builds of the HD888 with a 3-inch touch-screen LCD, a 3x optical zoom and image stabilization. It will retail for $249.
Finally, the $149 HD345 features 5.1-megapixel still capture, an 8x digital zoom, 2.4-inch LCD and MP3 playback.
Kodak's new ZX1 pocket HD video camera will join the earlier Zi6 on the market. The ZX1 will offer a weather-resistant housing and will be roughly 30 percent smaller than the Zi6. It will feature a 2-inch LCD, 720p/60 fps video recording, a 2x digital zoom and HDMI output with the cable included. It will also bundle a battery charger and records to SDHC memory cards.
Kodak will include new software with the model for easier video browsing and editing. The $149 ships in April in black, blue, red, pink and yellow.
