At present Radio One, based in Lanham, Md., and operating 65 radio stations, is the only broadcaster that has announced it is on the air with HD Radio. HD Radio receivers for consumers should be on retail shelves in spring 2003, said a spokesman. Other HD Radio licensees include Alpine, Harman Kardon, Kenwood, Sanyo, Visteon and Yamaha.
