Micro Innovations To Introduce Compaq-Branded Accessories

By Staff -- TWICE, 9/1/2003

Micro Innovations has signed a licensing agreement with Hewlett-Packard to introduce a line of Compaq-branded accessories for computers, which will be introduced at RetailVision, to be held this week in Phoenix. (See p. 54 for more coverage on the show.)

Micro Innovations, which has been selling IBM-branded accessories for the past three years (and will continue to sell them), provided details on the 40 SKUs that will be introduced this fall.

The products include seven keyboards, from basic, Internet, office and RF wireless multimedia varieties, which will have suggested retails ranging from $14.99 to $99.99. Eight different types of mice, which range in price from $19.99 to $49.99, as well as two mobile mice are part of the Compaq-branded line, with suggested retails of $39.99 each. Two numeric keyboards are available: a slimline numeric keypad at $29.99, and a calculator keypad at $69.99.

Also part of the lineup are four USB hubs, retailing between $19.99 and $69.99; three switches ($69.99 to $129.99); two USB 2.0 host cards ($29.99 to $49.99); three firewire products ($69.99 to $99.99); four retractable phone and/or Ethernet cords ($14.99 to $39.99); and a variety of other products.

In a prepared statement Eddie Mizrahi, president/CEO of Micro Innovations, commented on the agreement by saying that it enables his company to "deliver consumers exciting new technology and products that they really fall in love with."

Neale Minch, HP notebook accessory marketing director, said that the new line provides "products that match the design ID and styling that follow our hardware products, delivering products that are currently unavailable from any other branded OEM hardware supplier at retail today."

The products, which are scheduled later this month or early October, will be compatible with Windows-based PCs of any kind, the company said.
