Ascom Launches IP DECT Phones

GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN — Ascom Wireless will ship a new line of IP DECT phones to dealers this month.

The D41 and D62 phones, targeted toward business users, will incorporate a centralized management platform for "over the air" administration and software upgrades. The phones consume up to 80 percent less power than their predecessors.

The D41 features a 750-name/number phonebook directory, keypad lock, speakerphone and vibrating ringer. The D62 adds a color display, programmable keys and a color display.

The D62 will be sold with a variety of licenses to enable different functionality — such as alarms and messaging — based on business application.

Skype Integrated With SalesForce CRM

SAN JOSE, CALIF. — Skype said it had integrated its service with SalesForce.com's customer relationship management application. Skype's click-to-call toolbar will enable Salesforce CRM users to make Skype conference calls, video calls and send instant messages to contacts in their data base. According to Skype, over 30 percent of registered users are using Skype for business purposes.
