XtremeMac's Luna Readies For Worldwide Debut

LAS VEGAS — XtremeMac announced earlier this month that its Luna alarm clock and audio system for the iPod will be available worldwide beginning Feb. 1.
The unit currently retails for $149 exclusively in North America via Apple stores and XtremeMac.com, but it will become available through distributors and retailers.
Hailed as the only alarm clock for an iPod that integrates an onscreen menu system, the Luna enables users to wake to the iPod or the radio, and it also serves as a speaker system.
The settings are controlled by four multifunction knobs located on top of the unit; it can also be controlled by the included wireless remote that offers audio and alarm functions. It features two independent alarms that offer customized source (iPod, radio or buzzer), volume, dimmer and snooze-time options. The display features brightness control that can be turned off at night.
As an audio system, the Luna boasts two full-range speakers and a two-channel amplifier. Its built-in universal dock reportedly accommodates any iPod with a dock connector, and it ships with three dock well inserts that fit the most current iPod models. There is also an aux-in port for connecting audio devices without a dock connector, such as the iPod shuffle, older iPod models or other MP3 players.
