JVC Updates HTiB Plans

By Staff -- TWICE, 4/19/2004

WAYNE, N.J.– Two new 6.1-channel HTiB systems that JVC will ship in July will feature DVD recorders, but the company will delete a HDD PVR previously planned in one of the models to speed up time to market, said audio VP Karl Bearnarth.

The QP-F80AL at a suggested $1,900 and the QP-F70AL at $1,600 are packaged with separate DVD-recorder that records in the DVD-R/RW and DVD-RAM formats.

The 80AL replaces the planned $2,300-suggested 90AL, which was to offer all of the same features as the 80AL plus a 160GB HDD. Dealers wanted faster availability of the 90AL, in large part because of the décor-friendly floorstanding "stick speakers," Bearnarth said.
