Sony Bows New VAIO Notebooks

By Colleen Bohen -- TWICE, 9/13/2006

San Diego — Sony is adding to its VAIO line with N Series notebooks which embody the company’s recognition of growing consumer attention to design.

“From the furniture you sit on to the artwork you hang on your walls, you coordinate every aspect of your home’s style so why hide your PC?” said Mike Abrary, Sony VP of VAIO product marketing. “These new notebooks are designed to accent your interior design, as well as your life.”

The line is available in three colors: black, white and “Wenge brown,” which is said to resemble wood furniture.

The notebooks are Windows Vista capable and in some cases Windows Vista Premium ready. Select models also feature an Intel Core Duo processor, and all have two USB 2.0 ports.

Featuring a 15.4-inch widescreen display with Sony’s XBRITE-ECO LCD technology, the products come complete with DVgate Plus software and an on-board triple format/double layer DVD burner for editing and sharing home movies or creating customized DVDs. N Series notebooks also come with software applications for managing digital images. Images can be uploaded using the USB ports, ExpressCard, i.LINK or Memory Stick media.

Web browsing is enabled with built-in 802.11 a/b/g wireless LAN.

The VAIO N Series line will be available in October at a suggested retail price of $1,000.
