JVC Adds Headphones, Updates Colors

By TWICE Staff -- TWICE, 3/9/2009

JVC recently added to its line of headphones, as well as introduced new colors for pre-existing lines.

The HA-NCX78 headphones reportedly employ several noise-reduction technologies that reduce ambient noise, cord friction noise, wind noise and electrical noise.

The noise-canceling technology built into the HA-NCX78 headphones reduces ambient noise by up to 88 percent, according to the company.

Cord friction noise, caused by contact with the cord, is also reduced by using an over-the-ear cord style that dissipates friction noise through the outer part of the ear where it is much less noticeable, while a built-in “silent circuit” reduces electrical noise.

Wind noise is reduced by the headphones’ flat housing, which does not protrude from the ear and brings the microphone as close as possible to the ear.

Three sizes of silicon earpieces are included, along with one pair of memory-foam earpieces, a pair of detachable soft ear loops for a secure over-the-ear cord style, a carrying case, a dual-plug adapter for in-flight use, and an in-line monitor to switch off the noise-canceling function. Up to 50 hours of noise-canceling use is reportedly powered by a single AAA alkaline battery.

They are scheduled to be available this month for a suggested retail of $79.99.

JVC also said it has updated its line of Gumy Air headphones. The line now features colors that match the iPod Nano and Shuffle.

The JVC HA-F240 Gumy Air ($14.95) is available in a range of new colors that match the third generation iPod Nano and Shuffle music players. It features 11mm neodymium driver unit, a 1-meter friction-noise-reduction cord and an iPhone-compatible plug. Colors include white, black, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, red and pink.

The HA-F140 Gumy ear buds ($9.95) will be offered in white, black, blue, purple, green, yellow, orange, red and pink. It comes with a tangle-resistant cord.

Also offered in new colors to match the newest generation of iPods are JVC’s Marshmallow headphones. The HA-FX34 Marshmallow ($19.95) in-ear headphones will be available in silver, black, blue, purple, green, yellow, orange, red and pink.

The HA-FX34 is billed by the company as having “super-soft” inner earpieces in two sizes for a snug fit that also reduces background noise. A tangle-resistant cord is included.

Finally, the company also debuted a line of headband-style headphones known as Flats. The HA-S150 Flats have a slim metallic headband and soft ear pads that rest on the ear. The earpieces reportedly pivot so that the headphone can lie flat, and each features a 30mm neodymium driver.

The HA-S150 Flats come in six colors: black, silver, red, purple, blue and pink.

Suggested retail is $19.95.

All of the products are currently available, with the exception of the HA-NCX78, which is scheduled to be available this month.
