Key Digital Shows HDMI Distribution Amp

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 1/8/2007

Key Digital (booth 21413) will demonstrate at International CES its HDMI audio/video switcher and distribution amplifier that will support video resolution of up to 1,080p.

The company will also demonstrate an HDMI cable extender, supporting runs of up to 150 feet.

The KD-HDMI2x4P HDMI distribution amp is said to be capable of switching and distributing two HDMI/HDCP/DVID inputs through up to four outputs. The system is well suited for retail TV displays and other multiple display presentations.

The HDMI switcher offers support for left and right analog stereo, coaxial/digital (PCM) audio and Toslink audio. It will support any HDMI/HDCP/DVID resolution at 50Hz and 60Hz. LEDs indicate the selected source and input/output status.

It includes a flexible EDID (Handshake) control for any output; HDMI connectors; incorporates support for optical IR, wired IR, and RS 232; and adds front-panel controls.

It will allow HDMI cable runs of up to 300 feet (from original source to display) in 480i, 480p, 720p and 1,080i resolutions.

For HDMI cable runs above 75 feet, multiple Key Digital KD-HDB150s are required for each input and output. Units can be daisy-chained to support up to 100 outputs or displays.

Key Digital will also show its KD-HDB150 HDMI extender, which allows HDMI cable runs of up to 150 feet. The unit will support HDCP and 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1,080i sources and displays.

Built-in circuitry in the self-powered KD-HDB150 amplifies an HDMI signal up to 150 feet and runs without signal loss (two 75-foot Key Digital HDMI cables are required).

The unit will also support 1,080p signals with a maximum cable run of 60 feet, using two 30-foot HDMI cables.
