Buffalo Debuts Data Vault

By TWICE Staff -- TWICE, 6/16/2008

Austin, Texas — Buffalo Technology has introduced its latest portable storage solution, the MiniStation Data Vault.

The portable hard drive automatically encrypts all data saved to the drive, only allowing it to be accessed via password.

The device is built so that the drive is “floating” inside its exterior so as to protect data from drops and hits. It weighs less than 8 ounces and measures 3.3 inches by 5.2 inches by 0.9 inches.

The cable’s primary cable wraps around the device and can be snapped into place; it also comes with an additional cable for users with low USB power supply on their laptops.

The plug-and-play device is compatible with both Windows and Mac. It includes mobile versions of the Firefox Web browser and the Thunderbird email client, and comes equipped with Memeo AutoBackup software and Buffalo’s TurboUSB technology to increase transfer rates.

The drives are backed by a limited three-year warranty and toll-free 24/7 technical support. The DataVault is available this month at a suggested $129 for the 160GB model and $209 for the 320GB model.
