Expanded Sands Exhibit Space To Highlight 2006 CES

LAS VEGAS — — LAS VEGAS —The Consumer Electronics Association, producer of the International CES, to take place here from Jan. 5-8, 2006, wants everyone to know that the Sands Convention Center will be a hub of activities during the show.
A fresh new venue in 2006, Innovations Plus at the Sands Expo and Convention Center is loaded with more than 500 emerging technology exhibitors, 12 TechZones, 75 conference sessions, 500 emerging technology exhibitors and 150 international exhibitors. It also houses the Innovations 2006 Design and Engineering honorees, CES Unveiled: The Official Press Event of CES and the CES Industry Insider series.
As the new home for emerging technology at CES, Innovations Plus at the Sands will showcase the future of technology. Technologies like robotics, USB, ZigBee, consumer VoIP and IPTV will take center stage in TechZones and conference sessions at the Sands.
Prototypes, enabling technologies and technologies with unrealized potential will delight engineers, researchers, venture capitalists and anyone else focused on the next generation of consumer technology, CEA said.
Additionally, special events such as the Scientific American Innovations People's Choice awards, EE Times Great Minds, Great Ideas, Flash Forward 3.0 and Ziff Davis' Last Gadget Standing SuperSession will keep attendees busy.
The CES Industry Insider series — more intimate than a keynote, but with the same expert information from industry leading executives — has become one of the most highly anticipated facets of the show.
In 2006, the Industry Insider series features presentations from Dell's Michael Dell, Kodak's Antonio Perez and Verizon's Ivan Seidenberg.
This year's program also incorporates the successful Retail Power Panel, featuring Brad Anderson of Best Buy, David Edmondson of RadioShack, Alan McCullough of Circuit City and Larry Mondry of CompUSA, plus the first one-on-one between newly appointed FCC chairman Kevin Martin and CEA's Gary Shapiro.
CEA estimates that the 2006 CES will attract more than 130,000 attendees from 110 countries, 2,500 exhibitors and 1.6 million net square feet of space.
