Amazon Adds VuNow HD IPTV Set-Top Device

Mountain View, Calif. — Verismo Networks said its VuNow HD PoD system, which searches for and gathers Internet videos for display directly on TV screens, has just gone on sale through Amazon.com.
The VuNow HD PoD (VN-1000HD), which Amazon is selling for $148 including a wireless adapter and HDMI cable, is a palm-sized device that plugs into any television to provide instant access to a wide range of Internet video content from around the world.
It will output video signals in 480i, 480p and 720p (HD) video formats, and features an HDMI output, RCA component video and stereo outputs, two USB ports for a wireless adapter and flash or hard-disk storage devices, and an Ethernet connection.
It will also enable a DLNA connection to a PC or storage device to enable viewing digital videos, music and photo files directly on a TV screen.
The process of finding and playing videos was simplified through what the company calls “an intuitive user interface” activated with a remote control.
In addition to the VuNow HD PoD, a Verismo Networks spokesman said Amazon will soon add a standard-definition version of the VuNow device shortly.
VuNow devices offer a wide selection of Internet videos for the TV including videos from popular Web sites, YouTube, live TV channels, movies, as well as Bittorrent content. The device includes a full package of video codecs for the playback of a number of video, music and photo file formats
In addition, the company said it will soon arrange access to CinemaNow streaming movies.
No subscription is required to set-up and use the VuNow device. Versimo said setup and use is virtually plug-and-play.

Our unique platform lets users view millions of internet videos directly on the TV in the comfort of their living room.”
Verismo Networks, which is a privately held company based in Mountain View, Calif., with offices in Bangalore, India, is currently recruiting CE dealers to carry its VuNow products.
