Toshiba, Service Net Bow Warranty Plan

By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 11/21/2005

Service Net Solutions has signed an agreement to administer new extended service plans for Toshiba America Information Systems' digital products division. The strategic relationship calls for a phased rollout of the warranty program, which will cover Toshiba's full line of notebook computers and projectors under the over-arching marketing theme of “The Ease of Doing Business.”

The plans will provide up to three years of additional protection beyond the manufacturer's warranty, and most products will qualify for a variety of enhanced or uplift coverage offerings, Service Net said. These include programs such as SystemGuard Advanced Protection, which provides coverage against accidental damage from handling. Service Net will administer the program, which includes taking consumer calls, dispatching service through its nationwide network of service centers and processing claims for covered repairs.

“Toshiba recognizes the importance of service and support as a means of differentiating product and improving the customer relationship,” said David Norris, service operations VP for Toshiba America Information Systems. “To achieve these goals, we went through an extensive search to find a strategic partner with vast experience in the technology industry and a solid reputation within the reseller community.”

Headquartered here, with sales offices in Denver, Hartford, Conn., and Irvine, Calif., Service Net is a service-management business that creates, markets and administers warranties and service contracts, and creates loyalty programs for manufacturers, retailers and distributors of consumer electronics, major appliances.
