Logitech Bows Latest Wireless Mouse, Wave Keyboard

By John Laposky -- TWICE, 8/19/2008

Fremont, Calif. — Logitech will begin shipping its new MX 1100 cordless laser mouse featuring a contoured shape that naturally conforms to a user’s hand.

The 2.4 GHz mouse connects to a PC via a USB receiver. Logitech’s wireless technology exchanges data between the receiver and the mouse 300 times faster than conventional 27MHz wireless technologies for cordless mice, the company said.

The mouse’s MicroGear precision scroll wheel has two scrolling modes, including hyper-fast scrolling for long documents and Web pages.

Eight programmable buttons, including a stealth thumb button, allow simplified application switching and one-button zoom control.

The mouse offers up to nine months of battery life on two AA batteries, and is compatible with Windows XP, Vista and Mac OS X operating systems.

It measures 4.8 inches by 3.45 inches by 1.91 inches and weighs 5.54 ounces with the receiver and two AA batteries.

It carries a three-year limited hardware warranty and will ship this month at a suggested retail of $79.99

Logitech is also offering the mouse as a bundle with a second-generation refresh of the Desktop Wave Pro keyboard, which debuted last year.

“The keyboard’s wave-like shape is popular because it provides comfort without requiring people relearn how to type, unlike traditional ergonomic keyboards. And with the addition of the MX1100 mouse, which was designed according to ergonomic principles, our new desktop gives you even more comfort than the original Logitech Desktop Cordless Wave,” said Denis Pavillard, product marketing VP for Logitech’s keyboards and desktops.

By optimizing the power-management system, the improved wireless technology delivers a three-year keyboard battery life, the company said.

The Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro bundle is expected to be available in the United States beginning in October with a suggested retail of $129.
