MEGA Group Holds Mega Show

Orlando, Fla. — MEGA Group/Best Brands Plus lived up to its name in May when it hosted the largest buying show in the organization's 20-year history during its annual convention, held here.
The five-day conclave, which also marked the buying group's 20th anniversary, culminated in the all-day buying event, which filled 60,000 square feet with appliances, electronics and furniture from 80 suppliers and drew 700 member dealers.
According to MEGA, millions of dollars in orders were written, setting new records with several vendors. "The convention was well attended and dealer attitudes were very upbeat," said appliance merchandise manger Rick Bellows. "They came ready to buy, and record orders were placed."
Other convention highlights included a keynote address and merchandising workshop by retail consultant and author George Whalin.
