Monivision Adds HDTV Monitor With Flat Screen

CYPRESS, CALIF. — Monivision/Chun Yun USA said it will market a direct-view HDTV monitor with a "full flat" picture tube.
Model DM5952SF will ship in May at a $1,500 suggested retail price. It features a 29-inch (27-inch, 4:3 viewable) flat screen CRT and a 12-watt x 2 on-board speaker system and 20-watt sub-woofer.
The display includes an NTSC tuner to view off-air analog broadcasts and when connected to an ATSC DTV decoder box, via HD component, RGB-via BNC or VGA connectors, the monitor will present the 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i scan formats natively.
The monitor includes two standard VGA and audio inputs. An optional "Visionbox" adapter will provide jacks for S-Video, composite, and component video sources.
"Any multimedia applications you choose, the DM5952SF can handle them," the company said.
Picture setting controls for all the key characteristics of the display are accommodated with an on-screen display.
With the addition of the DM-5952SF, Monivision extends its HDTV monitor offering to four active U.S. models. Other screen sizes include a curved screen 27-inch model, a 32-inch model and a 36-inch model.
Monivision offers a standard two-year on-site warranty for its products.
