8x8 Adds Adapter, Features
Santa Clara, Calif.— VoIP provider 8x8 announced a new adapter and a host of new calling features for new and current subscribers to its Packet8 service. Added features include voicemail-to-e-mail notification, find me/follow me, simultaneous ringing on multiple phone numbers, seven-digit local dialing, network unavailable call forwarding and call-waiting disable. The new adapter is the Packet8 BPG510, which replaces the company's existing terminal adapter and features an integrated router, two Ethernet ports (LAN and WAN) and one RJ-11 phone jack. The adapter will retail for $39.99, with a $40 mail in rebate when a user activates the service.
Internet-Free VoIP Unveiled
TucSon, Ariz.— VoIP provider Lagunawave announced the Chatter Bug VoIP solution for placing VoIP calls without a PC or Internet connection. The $19.95 device connects to a home phone and phone jack. From the connected phone, users can make unlimited long-distance calls for $9.95 using Lagunawave's service, which can be activated online or via an 800 number. Local service is not provided. It ships this month.
Auvi Ships VoIP Converter
St. Louis, Mo.— Auvi announced that its previously announced WIP20 VoIP adapter is now shipping for a suggested $29.99. The device is available in two SKUs: WIP20S for Skype users and the WIP20K, which is programmed to work with the SIPTalk VoIP service.
