An Offer They Couldn't Refuse

ROSELAND, N.J. — Earlier this month, the heads of two of the largest industry crews in Northern New Jersey had a sit-down to discuss garbage disposal. A third-season plot line from HBO's "The Sopranos"? Not. Rather, appliance distributor Eastern Marketing Corp. held a sales training seminar for white goods dealer Karl's Sales covering products from Zephyr Range Hoods, Marvel Wine Cellars, Pro Fire Grills and Waste King Garbage Disposers. Karl's, a seven-store chain that ranked 31st on TWICE's Top 100 Appliance Retailer Registry, is considered the largest volume seller of high-end kitchen appliances in the state. Sixteen salespeople attended the training sessions, which culminated in a steak and lobster dinner at a nearby country club. Among the attendees were, from left, Dino DiCocco and Marty Friedman of Eastern Marketing Corp., and Tony Impellizieri, Steve Faudman and Bob Mignor of Karl's.
