MEGA Group USA, the 1,400-member buying organization for independent appliance, home furnishings and CE dealers, wrapped up a buoyant four-day fall convention here at the Marriot Riverwalk Hotel earlier this month.
The group, also known as Best Brands Plus, reported a strong turnout of attendees and exhibitors.
Dealers arrived with cautious optimism for solid fourth-quarter sales and “showed up to do business,” the group reported. This was reflected in the substantial volume of orders placed at the show, executives said, which helped suppliers hit or exceed their sales goals for the event.
“The fall convention pleasantly exceeded everyone’s expectations from attendance, business conducted and the quality of San Antonio as a host city for the event,” said MEGA Group president Rick Bellows.
Beside the buy fair, members attended workshops and presentations on such topics as margin, attachment sales and bottom-line performance. Highlights included a keynote address by author and consultant Bob Langdon on “Managing Your Business in Turbulent Times,” plus reviews of MEGA’s latest Web marketing tools and custom circular programs.
The group also hosted special events and meetings to welcome new members into the fold, and all attendees were welcome to participate in a golf tournament held at the renowned Quarry Golf Course, here.
