Benton Harbor, Mich.— Whirlpool has been cited by the AARP (the Association for the Advancement of Retired Persons) as one of the country's 50 best employers for workers over 50, and as one of the six best companies for 50-plus workers within its home state of Michigan.

Qingdao, China — Haier Group has been selected as the official home appliances sponsor of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
